چکیده

This paper proposes a new multicast transport protocol, called the Enhanced Communications Transport Protocol (ECTP). The proposed protocol is currently being standardized in the ITU-T SG7 and ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 6. The ECTP is designed to support tightly controlled multicast connections. The sender is at the heart of one-to-many multicast group communications. The sender is responsible for overall connection management such as connection creation, termination, pause, resumption, and the join and leave operations. For tree-based reliability control, ECTP configures a hierarchical tree during connection creation. Error control is performed within each local group defined by a control tree. Each parent retransmits lost data in response to retransmission requests from its children. ECTP has been implemented and tested on Linux machine, along with Application Programming Interfaces based on Berkeley sockets.

"A proposed framework of QoS management over multicast transport"

This paper describes a framework of QoS management for one-to-many multicast communications in the context of a new multicast transport protocol called the Enhanced Communication Transport Protocol (ECTP). ECTP is a transport protocol designed to support Internet multicast applications, such as audio and video, which is currently being standardised in ITU.T SG7. ECTP operates over IP networks t...

Configuration of ACK Trees for Multicast Transport Protocols

Seok Joo Koh et al. 111 For scalable multicast transport, one of the promising approaches is to employ a control tree known as acknowledgement (ACK) tree which can be used to convey information on reliability and session status from receivers to a root sender. The existing tree configuration has focused on a ‘bottom-up’ scheme in which ACK trees grow from leaf receivers toward a root sender. Th...

Security and Reliable Multicast Transport Protocols: Discussions and Guidelines

This document describes general security considerations for the Reliable Multicast Transport (RMT) Working Group set of building blocks and protocols. An emphasis is placed on risks that might be resolved in the scope of transport protocol design. However, relevant security issues related to IP Multicast control-plane and other concerns not strictly within the scope of reliable transport protoc...

Design of a Scalable Reliable Multicast Transport Protocol on the Design of a New Scalable Reliable Multicast Transport Protocol

This document presents the design and performance evaluation of a scalable, reliable, oneto-many multicast transport protocol. We show through simulation that it scales extremely well to a very big number of receivers. The server load (in terms of CPU and memory) is nearly independent of the number of receivers. Reliability is achieved using forward error correction (FEC) in combination with se...
